A rope set to allow you to make your own tyre swing that will swing horizontally (flat). Old style ropes - two point (top) to four point (bottom). Sold in pairs.
How to Make Your Own Tyre Swing:
Approach your local tyre shop and ask them for a small tyre as would fit a Mini, small Renault or similar from their recycle store. They will be happy to oblige as they have to otherwise pay for them to be taken away and recycled. Wash the inside and outside with warm soapy water and check the tread on the outside for any nails or screws that may be embedded in the tread. Use a sharp point to dig out any small stones, bitumen or dirt. RUN YOUR HANDS carefully around the inside of the tyre looking for any hidden nasties.
If you really want it to look good, buy a spraycan of Tyre Black, spray a couple of coats and polish to a shiny finish.
In the case of a Horizontal Tyre Swing, draw two imaginary lines (or chalk if you have it) across the centre of the tyre and far enough apart that where the lines reach the outer edge they are about 25-30cm apart. Mark a point along this line from about 4cm from the outside edge of the tyre, preferably in the top half of the side wall. There will be four of these points. Using a 10mm drill (it will need to be a powerful drill) drill out the four holes ready for the fixtures. You will have a job drilling out the tyre wall as they are usually reinforced with wire or cord. You will also have a job pushing the 10mm stud through the rubber but persevere and just push / wiggle it until it comes through. When you do the nut up be sensible, the rope side of the fixing should be a tight fit into the rubber, not buried in it. For the Pendulum Tyre Swing, follow these instructions except you only need one hole drilled in the centre of the tread.
You may also want to check the insides of the tyre in Spring as they are a great place for insects etc to live in over winter.
